O'CALLAGHAN PARK

Public BBQ

O'Callaghan Park sprawls across Zillmere with ambitious optimism - part sporting cathedral, part family sanctuary, with just enough rough edges to keep things honest. The football oval anchors this considerable complex, where grassroots enthusiasm trumps pristine facilities. Though finding the entrance requires detective skills (seriously, where's the signage?), once inside you'll discover a surprisingly well-appointed realm. The barbecue facilities and sheltered seating suggest someone considered families might linger. Two basketball courts sit behind proper fencing, while a compact skatepark provides the teenage outlet. The cafe serves excellent steaks that are wallet-friendly. There's something endearing about a venue where community spirit fills gaps that maintenance budgets can't reach.
